Why do we show a +/- next to the annual values?
The annual mean irradiance values we provide are our best estimate of the actual mean value. The +/- (plus or minus) symbol indicates that the true annual mean value is within a range plus or minus the number shown after the provided irradiance value. The Solar Prospecting Tools directly incorporate confidence measures into the annual mean data, showing a range of expected irradiance values, to provide a realistic assessment.
Of course, an annual mean range doesn’t present the full story of a potential site. 3TIER’s Solar Time-series and FullView Solar Site Climate Variability Analysis offer a more detailed analysis.
